This powerful and moving, yet consistently humorous study of an often cantankerous but thoroughly lovable old curmudgeon is considered to be the most deeply felt play of the three independent and remarkable plays in A Texas Trilogy. Colonel Kincaid is the oldest living graduate of the Mirabeau B. Lamar Military Academy. Although he is confined to a wheelchair, as his son discovers, he continues to resist the loss of his ideals and values.
